R.I.P. Frosty

It was fun while it lasted...all of about 2 hours of "good snow" to play in before it started raining and the snow turned to mush. Frosty finally melted away on Saturday afternoon, leaving behind only 5 pieces of coal, a carrot, and 2 sticks.

South Louisiana Sneaux Day

We woke up this morning to Daddy screaming to "Look Outside!!!!" When we finally got the sleep out of our eyes, we looked outside and found a thick (for south Louisiana anyway) blanket of snow, and the biggest snowflakes I've ever seen (again...in North Carolina or Louisiana). The kids were ecstatic, and ready to go outside. After we got the (inevitable) news that schools were closed (again, South Louisiana...we are not prepared for weather like this!), the kids got bundled up in the warmest clothes they had (yet again.....we aren't prepared for weather like this), and we went outside. The first activity of the day was a snowball fight, and then the obligatory snow man had to be built! We made our snowman a tiger fan (of course...what else would we have??). Once we had had enough, we came inside for some hot chocolate, complete with as many marshmallows as the kids could stomach. I imagine later today, we'll have some tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches....isn't that traditional snow day food....wait, maybe I should make a pot of gumbo instead!

Mommy's favorite part of a snowy day....the accumulation of snow and ice on tree branches. When I was a kid, my room was on the 2nd floor of the house...I'd know it was a snow day before my feet hit the floor because this was the view out my window.
