R.I.P. Frosty

It was fun while it lasted...all of about 2 hours of "good snow" to play in before it started raining and the snow turned to mush. Frosty finally melted away on Saturday afternoon, leaving behind only 5 pieces of coal, a carrot, and 2 sticks.

South Louisiana Sneaux Day

LSU Snowfan

We woke up this morning to Daddy screaming to "Look Outside!!!!" When we finally got the sleep out of our eyes, we looked outside and found a thick (for south Louisiana anyway) blanket of snow, and the biggest snowflakes I've ever seen (again...in North Carolina or Louisiana). The kids were ecstatic, and ready to go outside. After we got the (inevitable) news that schools were closed (again, South Louisiana...we are not prepared for weather like this!), the kids got bundled up in the warmest clothes they had (yet again.....we aren't prepared for weather like this), and we went outside. The first activity of the day was a snowball fight, and then the obligatory snow man had to be built! We made our snowman a tiger fan (of course...what else would we have??). Once we had had enough, we came inside for some hot chocolate, complete with as many marshmallows as the kids could stomach. I imagine later today, we'll have some tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches....isn't that traditional snow day food....wait, maybe I should make a pot of gumbo instead!

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Hot Chocolate....YUMMY!!!MARSHMALLOWS....YUMMM!!!
Mommy's favorite part of a snowy day....the accumulation of snow and ice on tree branches. When I was a kid, my room was on the 2nd floor of the house...I'd know it was a snow day before my feet hit the floor because this was the view out my window.

Louisiana Saturday Night

TIGER FANS!!!

On November 1st, 2008, Dillon and Maggie got to experience their first Louisiana Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium. The LSU Tigers were hosting the Tulane Green Wave. It was the perfect inaugural game for the kids.....the crowds weren't too big, and it was a sure win for LSU (although, this year, there is no such thing!) We got to the stadium around 2:00, and walked around visiting Mike the Tiger, eating some of the best food the area has to offer (Jambalaya by Shake Crawfish Pies.....YUMMMMM!!!!), and secured a great spot on the hill in front of the Journalism building to watch the band march to the stadium...in all my years coming to LSU games, I've never gotten such a good spot to watch the band (with the exception of last year's LA Tech game....that was a good spot, too!!) The kids LOVED the band. Maggie even got in the spirit by yelling "TIGER BAIT!!!" at every person she saw wearing green! It was cold, and we only made it to halftime, but I think the experience has made Dillon and Maggie LSU fans for life.....what else can we ask for???

The Band....You've got to look closely to pick them out of the sea of people in purple and gold
